How a Cambridge high school student started her own dessert cart business

This summer, instead of pounding the pavement in search of a summer job like other kids her age, 18-year-old Ashley Armbrust decided to run her own churro cart, Churros Sabrosos, selling the deep-fried dough coated with cinnamon and sugar. 

Although the start-up was a lot more difficult than she expected — from getting proper permits, licenses, buying ingredients, and reaching out to vendors — she says she was not short of support. 

The local graduate from École secondaire Père-René-de-Galinée participated in the Summer Company program hosted by the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre.
